Abstract

Several urban bridges are presented here, belonging to an urban highway, whose design was winner in a design and construction competition. One of them is a typical continuous slab, prestressed concrete deck, built in cycles on a span and cantilever basis. The others are conceived on a more industrialized ground, as decks composed by precast prestressed box-beams, made continuous with reinforced steel over the piers. The typeical cross-section of these is composed of two precast girders joined by a central plate and completed by in situ concrete cantilevers. In situ diaphragms poired over each of the piers are used in order to insure mechanical continuity as well as to avoid any visual angular breaking due to the curvature of the bridge. The design of the piers with clearly visible bearing plates under the box-girders, tries to underline the continuous deck tipology of the finished bridge.
