Overall formulation for the analysis of prestressed concrete structures with bonded and unbonded tendons

Abstract

The paper contains the development of an overall formulation for prestressed concrete structures, departing from the unbonded tendon technique analysis. on the basis of the simple friction mode; bonded tendon technique is covered by it, as a particular case in which structural concrete-steel compatibility is fulfilled because of the existence of a continuous local one. All phases, including tendon prestressing and anchorage, are studied through such a formulation. Forr having an idea of practical aspects involved, an example consisting iof a two-span continuous beam (bridge-deck) is solved, for both techniques separately and for two cases of livelive load distribution. Finally, some practical conclusions are proposed, involving formulae for the calculation of tensioning extensions and releasing shortenings, shape of the force P law when releasing (due to wedge anchorage or other reasons), influence of secondary moments due to the P increments is deformed and other topics.
