Abstract

Composite materials are produced by the combination of two different materials to achieve optimal properties. Among them, fober reinforced composites are increasingly used for buildings and public works, both with cementious matrices (FRC) and with polymer matrices (FRP). This first paper analyzes the properties, production methods and main applications of Fiber Reinfoced Cements and Concretes and particularly of Steel Fiber (SFRC), Glass Fiber (GRC), Polypropylene Fiver and Carbon Fiber (CRFC). In a next paper, a similar analysis of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) will be presented.
