Mechanical characterization of a high strength concrete

Abstract

A high strengh concrete was used in pedestrian bridges constructed recently in Montjüic (Barcelona). This concrete was fabricated in a conventional mixing plant using microsilica. Concretes identical to that used in the field have been subjected to several laboratory tests (mechanical, physical and chemical). The present article summarizes some of the results obtained and compares these with results from other concretes.
