The prefabrication for civil works: State of the work in Spain

Abstract

A survey is made on the weight of precast construction in the different fields of CIVIL WORKS activity. An analysis is made on the past history, actual technological state, aims achieved and future trends. Attention is paid to the present precast solutions for big cable stayed bridges, in the range of 300 meters span and also to the structural continuity for road overcrossings and bridges, made with single box section of constant or variable longitudinal depth. Prefabrication is applied also to columns and upper slab deck. Traditional adherent prestressing as well as external prestress is used.
