Abstract

The Rego das Lamas viaduct is located in the railway stretch Lalín (Baxán) - Lalín (Anzo), which belongs to the Orense - Santiago High Speed railway line, owned by ADIF. With this viaduct, the railway line spans the highway AP-53. It consists of a 245m-long composite concrete-steel deck, whose 80m-long main span is a bowstring arch. The deck is a composite box girder along all the length of the bridge. The main span consists of two compression arch - tension chord groups, contained in vertical planes, and placed at each side of the deck. Each tension chord is supported by 9 hangers that are connected to the arch, formed by 150 mm2 cables Y1860S-steel strands. The construction process of the bowstring over the highway is carried out by jacking it up and transporting it from its assembly position to its final position, and jacking it back down onto the bearings over piers 3 and 4.
