Abstract

The age bridges in our country, and elsewhere in the world, has forced durability problems of the structures to be given primary importance. Therefore, increasing importance attention is being given to inspection, evaluation, repair, retrofit or substitution. In this article, the final results of a research project are presented. The work was perfomed at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, with the objective of determining a conservation coefficient of the concrete structures, which represents the remaining life of a structure. The existing state of reinforced concrete structures have been simulated, where no design code regulation was followed for prescribing the materials or the geometry considering durability requirements. The experimental campaign began in November of 2000 and finalized in December of 2002.
