Thermal movements of joints and bearing systems on concrete bridges located on the Iberian Peninsula
Abstract
In this paper, a general methodology for the design of joints and bearing systems of concrete bridges located on the Iberian Peninsula is presented. Such methodology takes into account the longitudinal movements induced by envoironmental thermal effects. Design recommendations which allow to accurately predict thermal movements, depending on the location of the bridge, the cross section type and other factors which influence significantly the thermal response of the bridge, are presented.
