Flass fiber reinforced cements

Abstract

This paper presents a state of the art of mechanical properties, materials and processing methos of glass fiber reinfoced cements. Particular attention is paid to material ageing produced by alkali attack to the fiber as well as different solutions used to solve this problem, such as the utilization of fillers, low alkalinity cements or alkali-resistant fibers. The paper is accomplished with an outline of models of mechanical behaviour pointing out the existing defficiencies.
