Abstract

This report reiterates the basic concepts of postensioning and points up the advantages of this technique and its posibilities in building structures. Statistical data related to the use of postensioning in buildings in the United States are given. The most significant aspects that are necessary to take into account are highlighted. Finally, data about different calculation criteria from several countries standards, and some practical issues are discussed.
