Prestressing as an instrument of dialogue between architects and engineers

Abstract

The qualities of prestressed concrete should justify its use, far more frequently, in architectural structures. The paper recalls the concept of prestressing and the interest of its applications. Two recent examples, of very diverse magnitude, illustrate the possibility of localized implementations, apart from those in large architectural works. To achieve them, a dialogue between professionals is required, with the structural concept as the base.
