Proposal of reference wind speed for the EN13031-1, Greenhouses: Design and construction

Abstract

The norm EN-13031-1 ?Greenhouses: Design and construction - Part 1: Commercial production greenhouses? refers to Eurocode 1 to estimate the wind actions. This one bases the calculus on the value so-called ?reference wind speed? which is not available in Eurocode 1 for Spain. This paper is a proposal of reference wind speed values. And is a consequence of an analysis of different Spanish norms referred to wind actions (ENV 1991.2-4, Eurocódigo 1. Bases de proyecto y Acciones en Estructuras. Parte 2-4: Acciones en estructuras. Acciones de viento; AE-88, Acciones en la Edificación; Propuesta de Documento Nacional de Aplicación de Eurocódigo 4, Estructuras Mixtas Parte 1.1.; Recomendaciones para Obras Marítimas ROM 0.4-95 Acciones Climáticas II Viento), the reference wind speed values have been obtained by means of a linear regression analysis and the results are consistent with the reference data. Five different wind speeds are proposed for the corresponding eolic zones: 25, 27, 28, 29 and 30 m/s respectively from W, X, Y, Z and E zones.
