Abstract

The cable stayed between the Cebu and Mactan islands is the main work of the road concession Cebu Cordova Link Expressway. The 650 m long bridge has a 390-m long main span and prestressed concrete box girder stayed from two vertical towers. Wind effects were particularly demanding since it is located in an area of frequent typhoons. Wind tunnel tests were carried out in order to assess its aerodynamic and aeroelastic behavior. In addition, Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis CFD and analytic analysis of galloping and other aeroelastic instabilities were carried out to validate the design.
