Abstract


Pedro de Valdivia Bridge, located in the city of Valdivia (Chile), was opened to traffic in 1954. Since the beginning, the bridge has become one of the main streets of the city. The bridge is a multicellular reinforced concrete bridge. The main span is 69 m and is structural type is Gerber Beam. During 1960 Great Valdivia Earthquake the approach spans were seriously damaged and the bridge was repaired and retrofitted. In 2016 the MOP decided to design the widening of the bridge, which includes the evaluation of the bridge based on essays and measurements performed on the bridge.
