Abstract

East Approach viaduct to the bridge over the Danube river is a continuous prestressed concrete bridge, 1250.5m long and 35m wide. The bridge typical section is built up in two phases, using a movable scaffolding system and a wing traveler. A detailed study of the non-linear stress distribution on the deck typical section has been useful to optimize the prestressing steel quantification, in order to define a single internal bonded post- tensioning tendon system, not being necessary to design an extra external prestressing system inside the deck box core, as usual in other comparable recent realizations.
