Design of the Extradosed Bridge Over River Barrow
Abstract
The River Barrow Bridge in New Ross (Ireland) has a total length of 887 m and it includes four extradosed spans; two of them have a length of 230 m, a world record among extradosed bridges with a concrete deck. The cable stays have a large section, they are parallel and organized in a single central plane and they are continuous across the pylons by means of saddles. The prestressed concrete deck is a variable depth box with large overhangs which are supported by precast slabs.
