Self-compacting concrete: sustainable technology for the construction industry

Abstract

The sustainable construction is one of the key subjects for the construction industry. Investments made during the last years have been employed for the development of operational processes and facilities, with the aim of improving the environmental qualification of products. The industry of precast concrete elements and the industry of the ready-mix concrete are very much implied with the commitment of the sustainable development. In this way, the utilization of new technologies like the manufacture and use of self-compacting concrete has supposed an important step. The European experience has allowed us to value the economic benefits for using self-compacting concrete instead of conventional concrete.
