Abstract

.

The project design of staying system tower for the execution of the Almonte Bridge’s arch was modified in order to optimize its manufacturing and, mainly, to improve the adjustment of the staying system. The singularity of the new design was the connection to the concrete deck where the fixed support was changed to a pinned support, so the operation of the tower and the deck become independent. The pinned support opened up new possibilities  for the assembly of the tower that was built horizontally on the deck and, afterwards, was raised l in a singular way as well: slider-crank mechanism.
