Sliding in elastomeric bearing pads on bridges

Abstract

In some bridges where elastomeric bearings have been used, most frequently in precast concrete beams, displacements of the bearings have taken place from their initial position, even getting it out completely if measures are not taken. This situation is called sliding. The article tries to give some ideas about the elastomeric bearings, with some emphasis on some causes of these displacements and proposes some measures to prevent it.
