Abstract


This paper developes three new stress-strain diagrams, alternativa to the actually proposed by the European and American Codes, to design structural concrete elements under combined bending and axial efforts. The diagrams proposed inthis paper have some substantial differences with the ones actual use. The most important is that these new diagrams includes, in their mathematical definition, the influence of the cross-section shape in the behaviour of high stregth concrete under bending compression. These new diagrams are the main result of the testing campaign carried out by the authors at the Structures Laboratory of the University of Cantabria.
