Fire resistance of concrete columns according to Eurocode 2 and compared with EHE-08. Solutions in terms of Tabulated Data

Abstract

This paper presents the specifications in Eurocode 2 Part 1-2 regarding the fire resistance of reinforced concrete columns. Eurocode 2 Part 1-2 defines two methods to assess the fire resistance of columns, which are reflected in several tables. One of these methods has been obtained from experimental results, and the other method has been developed through a parametric study that applied the model column method considering the influence of fire. This paper presents both methodologies, noting their application ranges as well as the sources of their development. A comparison is then made between both methods of Eurocode 2, as well comparing them with the requirements in EHE-08.
